Vivekanandha College of Engineering for Women (VCEW), a center of excellence in Engineering and Technology was established in the year 2000 by the dedicated effort of Prof. Dr. M. KARUNANITHI, B.Pharm, M.S., Ph.D., D.Litt. Chairman & Secretary, VCEW.
The college is running under the academic guidance of Dr.A.P.Kabilan, Ph.D., Director and the dynamic leadership of Dr.P.Murthi, M.Tech., M.B.A., Ph.D., Principal towards the goal of excellence in education.
The college offers 5 UG Programmes and 5 PG courses. It is the India’s biggest group of women’s institutions with 23,000 students.
The VCEW Campus extends over a sprawling area of 26.16 acres in a serene atmosphere conductive for academic pursuit. All the courses conducted in the institution are accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi. The institution has also obtained ISO 9001:2008 certification.

Introduction
One of the major contributions of biomedical engineering to the life sciences and clinical medicine has been in biomedical instrumentation. Advances in this field have resulted in the development of new types of biomedical instruments and the development of numerous clinical approaches, such as electronic patient monitoring, an important aspect of critical care medicine, as well as a variety of devices to assist individuals with disabilities. Fluids compose over 80 percent of the human body. There are many kinds of instruments to measure fluids in the body. NASA and other care agencies around the United States helped in the design of instruments. Each measuring instrument has the characteristics of capacity, accuracy, error, precision, linearity, and durability, simplicity of operation, output, calibration, and cost.
Objectives
The purpose of medical instrumentation is the measurement of physiological variables: electrical activity of the heart, respiratory airflow, blood pressure, etc. Measurement techniques can be studied separately for each organ system, such as the cardiovascular, pulmonary, nervous, and endocrine systems. This approach isolates all important measurements for specialists who need to know only about a specific area, but it results in considerable overlap of quantities sensed and principles of transduction. • Microcurrent Electrical Neuromuscular Stimulator
• Electrical Muscle Stimulator
• High Voltage Pulsed Galvanic Stimulation
• Interferential Generator and Electrical treatments.
