Summer Student’s Visiting Internship Program (SSVIP-2017)
The KLU - Summer Student’s Visiting Internship Program (SSVIP-2017) of one month with
stipend is designed to enhance awareness and interest in high quality academic research among
young Engineering, Sciences and Technology students through a goal oriented summer mini-
project undertaken at the Kalasalingam University, Krishnankoil.
Duration of the Programme
This programme, SSVIP-2017 is to be held from 01 st June to 30 th June, 2017 (One Month).
About the Programme
The selected participants will work on a specific project in association with the faculty members
and scientists of various Research Centers of Kalasalingam University. At the end of the
programme, each student presents a short seminar and submits a report on the project carried out.
The outcome of their research could form part of a research paper, if the results are interesting
and worthy.
Eligibility
Candidates pursuing Third/Final Year of B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc., First/Second Year of
M.E/M.Tech/M.Sc. and M.Phil with outstanding academic background in terms of high ranks in
university/college examinations are encouraged to apply, highlighting their academic
performance and achievement including papers presented at seminars, projects executed, design
contests participated, score/rank in Mathematics Olympiad and any other awards/distinctions
obtained.
Participating Research Centers:
Sir CV Raman-KS Krishnan International Research Center (IRC): Carry out
advanced research in the broad areas of material science such as Biomaterials,
Nanomaterials, Microchip, Nanosensors, Environmental study, Photo catalysis study and
Biosensor for metabolic functions. Centre also has an Advanced Instrumentation Facility
that includes sophisticated equipment like XRD, SEM-EDS- STEM, AAS, FTIR, Flash
Chromatography, Photo Reactor, LCR analyzer, etc.
National Center for Advanced Research in Discrete Mathematics (n-CARDMATH):
Research interests are Graph Theory and its Applications, Domination in Graphs, Graph
Labeling Problems, Graph Coloring, Fractional Graph Theory, Cryptography, Algorithms
and application of Graph Theory for Social Media, etc.
Center for Biotechnology (CBT): Focuses on Infectious and Inflammatory Diseases,
Bionanotechnology, Bioprocess Engineering, Genomics and Proteomics, Plant
Biotechnology, Environmental Engineering and Animal Biotechnology. The center has
many facilities like Animal tissue culture, Zebra Fish culture facility and Proteomics
facility.
Center for Composite Materials (CCM): The research at the center focuses on
composite materials processing, materials testing, composite machining and deposition.
The centre is taking effort to produce eco friendly high performance materials.
National Cyber Defense Research Centre (NCDR): Research at NCDR focuses on
building of Science and Engineering foundations for Cyber Security and Forensics. This
centre enables the students to acquire practical experience in computer systems,
network operations and information protection to encounter cyber threats.
TIFAC-CORE in Network Engineering (TCNE): Carry out in the field of Computer
Networks, Network Security, Embedded Networking, Power Networks, etc.
Center for Renewable Energy (CRE): Centre mainly focuses on Green (Renewable)
Energy Sources and Systems (GESSs) such as Wind power, Hydropower, Solar
Energy, Biomass, Biofuel, Geothermal Energy, Wave Energy, Tidal energy,
Hydrogen & Fuel Cells, Li-ion Batteries, Capacitors, etc.
Instrumentation and Embedded Systems Design and Centre for National
Instruments-Lab View (KLU-NI): Center focus their research and applications on
control communication and signal processing utilizing NI technology and providing
worthwhile research achievements. The following National Instruments hardware are
available in the center. Educational Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Suite
(ELVIS), My DAQ (Data Acquisition), My RIO (Reconfigurable I/O & O/P
devices), CDAQ (Compact Data Acquisition), My RIO embedded kit, ELVIS
Optical Communication board, FPGA board, Telecommunication board, and signal
processing board.
Financial Assistance
Selected participants will be paid a stipend of Rs. 5,000/- for the duration of the
programme
Travel expenses, limited to round trip sleeper class train fare between place of residence
and Srivilliputhur will be reimbursed upon production of relevant ticket
Participants will be provided with free accommodation on sharing basis at the campus
Participants must attend the entire duration of the programme
