Date of Function: July 12 and 15, 2014

To control diseases effectively, it is essential to understand the pathogen, the host and their interactions. The National Institute of Animal Biotechnology, an autonomous institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India is pleased to organize an international conference on host-pathogen interaction at Hyderabad, India, between July 12 and 15, 2014. The conference will focus on the study of host-pathogen interactions with respect to livestock and poultry including zoonotic infections. The sessions in the conference will engage a variety of disciplines in molecular biology, microbiology, cell biology, immunology, genetics and genomics related to host-pathogen interactions. The conference has been designed to include interdisciplinary approaches to address pathogenesis of infectious agents, evolving and emerging pathogens, host responses to infection and applications of these studies for translational medicine. Each session will begin with 2 to 3 invited talks by scientists pioneering in the respective field, followed by talks selected from submitted abstracts.

The conference includes the following broad sessions:

Infection and Immunity (with focus on Infectious Diseases of Livestock and Poultry and Zoonosis)

Host-Pathogen Interactions

Inflammation and Immunity

Antibiotic Resistance

Translational Research - Vaccine and diagnostics (including preparedness to epidemics and pandemics)

This conference will allow scientists, post-docs and students to gather under one roof and share their interesting research findings. A limited number of travel grants to attend the conference will be available to students and post-docs submitting abstracts. The selection will be based on merit. Poster awards will be presented for the best posters at the conference.
