EVENTS
PAPER PRESENTATION
This event focuses on the technical aptitude of the participants and their presentation skills. The paper's topics are:
- Structures.
- Aerodynamics.
- Advanced aerospace technology.
- Avionics.
- Flight dynamics.
- Advanced propulsion systems.
- Composite Materials.
- Computational fluid dynamics.
- UAV and MAV.
-Counteracting Aerodynamic Heating.
-Zero Emission or Emission Reduction.

RULES:
- A Team can consist maximum of 2 members.* (NOTE: DURING REGISTRATION ENSURE YOUR TEAM NAME IS ENTERED)*
- The paper must be typed in IEEE Format andd should be within 15 pages. Only text directly related to the item being presented and any accompanying illustrations, tables, figures, etc., will count toward the 15-page limit.
- Title pages, tables of contents, and bibliiographies shall not be counted toward the given page limit.
- Your paper should contain bibliography.
- Photographs should be treated as being equuivalent to figures, with the caption being placed at the bottom of the photograph.
- Ensure the quality of your photographs, fiigures, etc.
- The contestants are required to send only a soft copy of their entry along with an abstract (not more than 250 words) to the following mail id:shockaeronz2k11@gmail.com.com, with subject "Paper name/team name" latest by August 18th, i.e. (18/08/2011).
- Acknowledgement of the receipt of the entrries would be sent by within 24 hours of receiving your mail and the shortlisted papers will be intimated by August 20th through email.
AIR CRASH INVESTIGATION
Mayday…. Mayday…. - the pilot calls out as his aircraft has lost its control. Whenever an aircraft crashes there are always some clues through which the cause of the crash can be found. The cause of such unfortunate crashes is due to a series of events that finally leads to it. Turn into a real crash detective, collect the clues and find out what really happened...

PROBLEM STATEMENT: The participating teams will be provided with air crash videos and reviews from technical experts regarding the crash. The students are to prepare a crash report based on the clues provided within; it should also contain detailed technical report on the cause of the crash.
RULES:
- A team can consist maximum of 2 members.* (NOTE: DURING REGISTRATION ENSURE YOUR TEAM NAME IS ENTERED)*
- The students will be provided with clues rregarding the crash through the reviews of technical experts and survivors in the video.
- The usage of cell phones or any other elecctronic gizmo is strictly prohibited during the event. In any such cases, the respective team will be disqualified without prior notice.
- The winners will be judged based on the foollowing criteria-
>Reasoning
>Investigating skills
> Technical Findings.
- JUDGES DECISION IS FINAL.
CAD MODELLING
"We are proud to present to you at SHOCKAERONZ'11, a one of its kind CAD MODELLING competition. A great opportunity to bring on your imagination and designing skills through CATIA software.

RULES:
• This is an individual event.
• The event consist of two rounds
(i) Preliminary round
(ii) Final round
• The preliminary round consists of a written aptitude test. The test will quiz your knowledge on the fundamentals of CADD.
• 20 participants will be shortlisted based on the written aptitude test for the final round.
• The final round will consist of presenting a full fledged design of a given Part /Surface/Assembly using CATIA V5.
• The participants are to complete their design within the specified time limit.
• The winner will be judged based on the time taken and design completeness.
FLIGHT SIMULATOR
Are you a good pilot..?? Want to test your pilot skills…?? Here is something unique we got for you guys in SHOCKAERONZ'11. The Flight Simulator is a simulated gaming event to test your skills behind the control stick.
The one with the best landing skill gets his pilot license… GET READY WITH YOUR WINGS…..

RULES:
- This is an individual event.
- The participants are required to try theirr flying skills in this event, so as to land the airborne aircraft safely.
- The aircraft should be landed on the RUNWAAY within the given time limit.
- In case of crash landing or landing on anyy other area, the participant will be disqualified.
- The winner is judged depending on their laanding perfection and time taken for landing.
- JUDGES DECISION IS FINAL.
GLIDER CONTEST
Put your work gloves on, utilize a little skill, knowledge and innovation, you are ready to go on. Design your own glider and witness the joy of soaring like a bird and bringing victory to your hand. The participant is required to design and fabricate his/her own glider made of balsa wood and launch it to give the greatest flying time or endurance. Are you up to the challenge that brings out the most innovative designs? The Glider with maximum range and endurance will be considered the best design.

RULES:

• The gilder should be made out of balsa.
• Metal balls or clay can be used for weight balancing.
• The gliders must be hand launched.
• The maximum dimensions of the glider can be 2ft by 2ft.
• The Glider with maximum range and endurance will be considered as the winner.

WATER ROCKETRY
"Woo...!” This is the first word that comes out of everyone's mouth after the launch of a bottle rocket. The bottle rocketry event in SHOCKAERONZ’11 is a major attraction.This year, it is back again, with more challenges filled to the brim. In this event, the participant is required to design a bottle rocket that hits the target kept at a distance. It is an event based on simple physics and it attracts hundreds of participants. So competition is bound to be tight!

RULES:
• A Team can consist maximum of 3 members.*(NOTE: DURING REGISTRATION ENSURE YOUR TEAM NAME IS ENTERED)*
• The participants are to make their bottle rockets using 2 litre bottle.
• You may also use chorrosheet & cello tape which is needed to make the rocket.
• Participants are required to bring their own launching pad . Pressurizing pump will be provided(Foot Pump)
• The rocket will be launched using air and water. It will be launched from a distance of 100 feet from the target.
The winner is judged, based on the following criteria:
- Range and endurance of the rocket
- Accuracy to land in the specified region
PARA DIVE
This innovative event is the first of its kind in SHOCKAERONZ'11, where the participants are required to design a parachute out of the materials provided that when tied with an egg and dropped from a particular height lands on the ground without breaking it !!! Interesting isn't it??.

- All the essential materials needed to makee the parachute will be provided so there is no need of bringing any extra tools.
- A material of same dimension will be proviided to all the participants.
- The participants are to use the materials given by the organizers only, failing which your team will be disqualified.
- The parachute which efficiently lowers thee egg without breaking it, will be judged as the winner.
- The parachute's endurance will be taken innto account in case of a tie.
- JUDGES DECISION IS FINAL.
