About the Institution Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE), Madurai, is one among the several educational and philanthropic institutions founded by the Philanthropist and Industrialist Late. Shri. Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar. It was established in the year 1957. TCE is an ISO 9001:2008 certified Institution affiliated to the Anna University, Chennai funded by Central and State Governments and Management. The courses offered in TCE are approved by the AICTE, New Delhi. It was granted Autonomy in the year 1987.

About the Department: The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established in the year 1957 and offers UG programme in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) and PG programmes in Power Systems Engineering and Control & Instrumentation Engineering. These programmes are accredited by the NBA. The department is funded by the FIST, DST, AICTE, UGC and BRNS. Department received Best Industry Linked Institute Award for the year 2014 from AICTE-CII. The focus research areas of the department are Power System, Power Electronics, Energy Management, Renewable Energy and Soft computing. The Department conducted many in-house training program for M/S. Sundram Fasteners Limited, Chettinad Cement Corporation, Madura Coats Ltd., in the area of Energy Management, Industrial Safety and Power Quality

Dr.N.Kamaraj.M.E.,M.B.A.,Ph.D. Professor & Head, Department of Electrical Engineering Thiagarajar College of Engineering,Madurai Dr. N.KAMARAJ is a Professor & Head, Department of Electrical Engineering, Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai, Tamilnadu, India. He has 9 years of Industrial Experience and 25 years of experience in teaching and research. He obtained B.E. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and M.E. degree in Power System Engineering from Madurai Kamaraj University in the year 1988 and 1994 respectively. He obtained Ph.D. Degree in the Power System Security Assessment in the year 2003 from Madurai Kamaraj University. He is involved in many consultancy works in the industries across the state. He is an active member in the Energy Management Cell of Thiagarajar College of Engineering and done Energy & Power Quality Audit to H.T. industries/Organizations as per the statutory requirements of Tamilnadu Electricity Board. His research areas include Security Assessment and Voltage stability of power systems using Neural Network, Fuzzy logic and Genetic Algorithm for Smart Grid / Micro Grid environment. Fourteen research scholars successfully completed Ph.D. degree under his supervision. He has published 33 papers in the International & National journals and presented 65 papers in the International and National conferences. He is the recipient of Merit award from IEEE – Computer Society for CSIDC 2003 as best advisor for the team contested in CSIDC. Also he has received Gold medal and Corps subject award from Institution of Engineers (India) for the year 2003. He is a Member in IEEE, KEMA, The Institute of Engineers (India) and Indian Society for Technical Education. He had hold the honorarium post as Registrar in Thiagarajar College of Engineering for six year (1998-2004). He was the coordinator for the Teaching & Learning process (2004-2008) in the department and Education support system of the college. He is also the Controller of Examinations for the Institute.

Dr.V.Saravanan.M.E.,Ph.D. Associate Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, Thiagarajar College of Engineering,Madurai Dr.Saravanan Vellaiappan graduated in Electrical & Electronics Engineering and post graduated in Power System Engineering from Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai in 1990 and 1993 respectively. He has served as Energy Consultant with Energy Management Cell of Confederation of Indian Industry, Chennai for three years. He has conducted more than 45 detailed Energy Audit Studies in various types of industries across the country. He has published two papers in international journals. He visited Wales University, United Kingdom to present technical papers in the international conference UPEC 2001. He has completed his doctoral research in the field of Energy Management based on Regional Quality of Power Supply and obtained Ph.D., in the year 2007 from Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai. From 1997, he is working as a faculty of Electrical Engineering at Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai and currently working as Associate Professor
