IIT-Delhi Admission Procedures

IIT Delhi is located in Hauz Khas, South Delhi. The longitudinal campus of 320 acres (1.3 km2) is surrounded by the beautiful Hauz Khas area and monuments such as the Qutub Minar. The campus is also close to other educational institutions such as the Jawaharlal Nehru University. The inside of the campus resembles a well planned city with gardens, lawns, residential complexes and wide clean roads. The campus has its own water supply and backup electricity supply along with shopping complexes to cater to the daily needs of residents.
IIT Delhi has 13 departments, 11 multi-disciplinary centers, and 2 schools of excellence. Together they offer around 700 courses every semester.

GATE
Admission for M.Tech,ME,Assistantship for relevant Doctoral Programs.
Eligiblity
A bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/technology/architecture/pharmacy(4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes
Master's degree holders in any branch of Science/mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year os such programmes.
Candidates in the second or higher year of the four-year integrated Master's degree programme(Post-B.Sc) in Engineering/ Technology or in the third or higher year of five-year integrated Master's degree programme and dual degree programme in engineering technology
candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognised by UPSC/AICTE(e.g AMIE) as equivalent to B,E/B.Tech.
Duration of exam:3hrs.
JEE
Admission for B.Tech,B.Arch.
Eligiblity
Candidates who have secured 60% (5% relaxation for SC/ST/PD) marks in aggregate in their respective board examination are eligible for the test.
The JEE will be a single objective type examination which will test the comprehension and analytical abilities of students.
JMET
Admission for MBA (in all IIT's)
Eligiblity
Candidates with B.E./ B.Tech. or equivalent with first class or equivalent from a recognized Institution
or University OR a Master's degree or equivalent in any discipline with first class or equivalent from a recognized Institution
or University are eligible to apply. Students in their final year of qualifying degree course are also eligible to apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be admitted provisionally, provided they complete all requirements for the qualifying degree

Eligiblity
JAM qualified candidates shall have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria for admissions in IITs.
• At least 55% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC Category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST and PD Category candidates in the qualifying degree. For candidates with letter grades/CGPA (instead of percentage of marks), the equivalent percentage of marks will be decided by the admitting institute(s). TOTAL NO OF SEATS M.Sc IN IIT MADRAS

Applicants under Cultural Exchange Fellowship Programme
The foreign nationals desirous of admission to a post-graduate programme (M.Sc./M.Tech./M.S. (Research)/ M.Des./ Ph.D.) at IIT Delhi under this Fellowship programme, are required to apply to the Indian High Commissions/Embassies as the case may be, in their respective countries.
After examining the case of the applicants from all angles, they will recommend/sponsor the names to the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), New Delhi, which in turn, will recommend the applicants to this Institute. On receipt of applications of foreign nationals from ICCR, this Institute will examine each case in accordance with its prescribed eligibility criteria for adjudging the academic suitability of the applicant for admission to the desired course/programme.
Self-financing Foreign Nationals
Applications from foreign nationals for admission to the various postgraduate programmes (M.Sc./ M.Tech./ M.S.(Research)/ M.Des./ M.B.A./ Ph.D.) at the Institute are received directly by the Institute by the end of December for the session commencing in July of the next year. The desirous foreign nationals will submit their complete curricula vitae/particulars with regard to their academic qualifications indicating clearly the percentage of marks where marks are awarded; Grade Point Average (GPA) where grades are awarded, etc. Those oreign nationals who have passed their qualifying degree examination from any of the Indian Universities should also have a valid GATE score for admission to M.Tech. programmes and valid CEED score for admission to M.Des.programme.

IIT-Delhi Scholarships
Loan Scholarships
The “Loan Scholarship” scheme facilitates students at IIT Delhi taking an educational loan from a bank. A student who takes the educational loan can pay back the interest which accrues on the loan for the period of his stay at IIT Delhi from the “Loan Scholarship” scheme. IIT Delhi welcomes support of its Alumni in creating Loan Scholarships. An endowment fund is received and the interest accruing on the Endowment provides the Loan Scholarship.
ABB Scholarships
Mr. Ravi Uppal has also facilitated the setting up of ABB Scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate students in Electrical Engineering discipline at IIT Delhi. ABB India has donated Rs. 9,36,000/- (Rs. nine lacs thirty six thousand). The main objective is to award initially two scholarships as under:
1. One scholarship to an undergraduate student in the second year in the discipline of Electrical Engineering (Power). The value of the scholarship will be Rs. 24,000/- per year.
2. One scholarship to a postgraduate student in the first year in the discipline of PS/PEEMD in alternate years. The value of the scholarship will be Rs. 1,20,000/- per year.
